Pato started Pato's Surf School in 2010 with the hopes of introducing as many people as he could to the sport he loved. When he's not working, Pato enjoys fishing, constructing, and working in his garden with his animals at his side. In 2022, his 2nd daughter was born and he and his partner, Kate, can't wait to get her on a surfboard!

Originally from Montana, Kate came to Samara to attend the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy. She balances her work as a massage therapist, teacher, and surf instructor with surf sessions, reading, and gardening. She is enjoying being a new mother and is soaking up all the time she gets with her little girl---it goes so fast!

a Samara native, Jhosuan is a new(ish) addition to Pato's Surf School. His first love is skateboarding, and he brings his style and experience of that sport into the water and into his surfing.

Born and raised in Estrada, about 20 minutes from Samara, Elder grew up surfing some of the best waves in the area. He has been giving surf lessons for over 10 years and is ISA and first aid certified. He enjoys surfing and spending time with his family.

Marcelo, originally from Argentina, has been giving surf lessons in the Carrillo and Samara area for over 8 years and is ISA and first aid certified. When he's not instructing or surfing, he makes raviolis and sells them in the area----they are so delicious!

The newest member to the Pato's Surf School team, Dani comes from a skateboarding background as well. He has been known to take great pictures and videos of his lessons and share them to social media---we appreciate his eye for good photography!
